Hardscaping is simply the addition of hard (non-plant) items into a landscape design, usually in the form of pavers, bricks or stone to create a patio, walkway, retaining wall or garden border. The incorporation of a hardscape installation into a general landscape design and installation must be done carefully so as to minimize the additional time required for the overall project.
